A new Ecolodge has been built, with funding from the EU, in Assabeia - a few km before St. Katherine village.

This Ecolodge will open its doors in the beginning of 2010

Al Karm Ecolodge

Al Karm Ecolodge is situated on the northern edge of the high mountain region. It's a 2 hour walk away from Abu Sila and an hours drive from St. Katherine.

Al Karm Ecolodge was set up with the help of the St. Katherine Protectorate and is owned and run by Gamil Attiya, a most friendly and welcoming Jabaliya Bedouin from the village of Sheikh Awaad. The Ecolodge is an ideal location for workshops and courses.

The Ecolodge has a solar water heating system and sanitary compost toilets. There is no electricity, lighting is provided by oil-lamps.

The Ecolodge provides full boarding. There are 8 rooms, each room bedding 4 to 6 people. There is a communal lounge with a fire place for cold winter nights.

El Malga Bedouin Camp

El Malga Bedouin Camp is situated in the bedouin village Al Malga, next to the Mountain Tours Office of Sheikh Musa. Sheikh Musa has the sole right from the government to supply guides and camels for mountain treks. A guide is an obligation when making a trek. The camp is also owned and run by Sheikh Musa.

The camp is has had a compete renovation this past year, is clean and has a nice atmosphere.

There is a choice between dorm-rooms with 6 beds to a room and double-rooms with 2-3 beds to a room. There are 2 toilet blocks with toilets and showers. There is a manual washing machine that can be used.

Meals are not included in the price but there is a good kitchen

The camp has 17 double rooms,and 3 dorm rooms

Price: depending on the accommodation between 20 and 50 Le per person

Desert Fox Camp

Desert Fox Camp is on the entrance road to St. Katherine Village (Al Malga), just past the roundabout, on the left hand side. The camp is managed by Farag "Fox".

This camp is also undergoing a complete renovation this year

The old rooms are a bit run down but the new rooms are clean and neat. There are 22 rooms with 2-3 or 5 beds.

There is a toilet/shower block with hot running water.

There is a nice big bedouin tent, nicely decorated, for relaxing. Farag "Fox" also has a large herbal garden with medicinal herbs from the St. Katherine area.

Moonland Hotel & Camp

Moonland is also situated on the entrance road to Al Malga but is on the right hand side.

Moonland is well-known for its excellent kitchen.

There are 6 rooms with 3 beds and 8 double bed rooms. For these rooms there is a toilet/shower block with running hot water.

7 rooms have been built this year with toilet, shower and airco/room heating. The price for these rooms include breakfast.
