The Coloured Canyon, 28 km land inwards from Nuweiba, is together with Ein Hudra and the White Canyon one of the most frequented places during 1 and 2 day safaris. In the high season it can be quite busy.
The Coloured Canyon is a large valley between sandstone mountains, carved out by rushing waters after heavy rainfall. The sandstone cliffs show remarkable shades of colour.
The usual trail is 2.5 km long; it is easy walking most of the way but there are two obstacles in the most narrow part of the wadi, where one has to clamber and slide down big boulders. |
